Fidya & Kafara for Hajj
“Fulfill your religious obligation while enabling a sacred journey”
Understanding Fidya & Kafara
📖 What is Fidya?
Fidya is compensation paid by those who cannot fast during Ramadan due to:
- Chronic illness with no hope of recovery
- Old age and physical weakness
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding (if fasting harms mother/child)
Obligation: Feed one poor person for each missed day
⚖️ What is Kafara?
Kafara is expiation for intentionally breaking a Ramadan fast through:
- Intimate relations during fasting hours
- Deliberate eating/drinking without valid excuse
Obligation: Feed 60 poor people OR fast 60 consecutive days
Why Sponsor Hajj with Fidya/Kafara?
While Fidya and Kafara are traditionally fulfilled by feeding the poor, Islamic scholars permit using these funds for any benefit that serves the needy—including enabling eligible Muslims to perform Hajj. This approach:
- ✅ Fulfills your obligation: You complete your religious duty with certainty.
- ✅ Multiplies the reward: A pilgrim’s Hajj benefits them eternally, and you share in that reward.
- ✅ Transforms lives: You enable someone to answer Allah’s call, not just receive a meal.
- ✅ Scholar-approved: This method is validated by qualified Islamic jurists.
